It’s the return of Pig Island! As in the past, the event teams local farmers with up-and-coming chefs, who—alongside New York brewers and vintners—bring the best of New York State to New York City. In addition, this year will host a “Chefs’ Band” on our stage. Pig Island benefits Food Systems Network NYC.

Event features include:
- 25 of the best chefs in the 5 boroughs going (ahem) hog wild with local pigs.
- Butchering and cooking demos brought to you by Wüsthof.
- Great local craft beer by Sixpoint (Brooklyn), providing exclusive custom beers. 
- Veggie Pavillion brought to you by Microplane and Cathy Erway.
- Music all day with live bands.
 

Please be aware that our Heirloom Tomato Tasting on Sunday, August 28th has been canceled due to the expected hurricane and closure of the market.

Returning to Governors Island on September 10 is Pig Island II, an all-local event featuring farmers, chefs, brewers and vintners from New York State. Following the success of last year, Pig Island will source 80 hogs from Finger Lakes’ area farmers, prepared by 20 top New York City chefs. Confirmed chefs include Ryan Angulo of Buttermilk Channel, Mary Cleaver of Cleaver & Co., Brent Sims of The Green Table, Heather Carlucci-Rodriguez of Print, Jimmy Carbone of Jimmy’s No. 43, George Weld of Egg Restaurant, and more.

This farm and food collaboration will be complemented by specialty craft beer, featuring Sixpoint Craft Ales, and NY State wines, cooking demonstrations, and opportunities to see the best of New York in action. A special cooking demonstration and giveaway from Wüsthof will include a carving and knife skills demo with butchers Adam Tiberio of Tiberio Custom Meats and Jake Dickson of Dickson’s Farmstand Meats. The Pig Island event emphasizes food sourced directly from farms (not through a distributor) and introduces up-and coming-chefs.

Pig Island will benefit Food System Network NYC and will be co-hosted by Michael Colameco, host of PBS Channel 13’s Colameco’s Food Show, who will be filming for a future episode. Community partners include Earth Matters, Kingsborough Community College Culinary Program and Teen Battle Chef.

Dickson’s Farmstand Meats and The Lobster Place invite you to a summer kickoff party at Chelsea Market on Tuesday, June 7th. Join us for all the surf and turf you can handle, along with Sam Adams brews, Buffalo Trace whiskey cocktails (mixed by soon-to-be-neighbors The Tippler), live music (The Dixons) and dessert from L’Arte Del Gelato!

We’ll be slinging beers, bourbons, peel-and-eat shrimp, crawfish, oysters, beef tartar, pulled pork, and giant cuts of roast beef, pork and lamb from 6-9pm.

Ticket Price $60 (for Surf, Turf, Booze, and Band).

Proceeds from this event will support the work of the Food Systems Network NYC. Through collaboration, education, and advocacy, the Network is helping to establish a just and vibrant regional food and farm economy that promotes human and environmental health and prevents hunger.

Jimmy's No. 43 got ducky on Saturday, April 9th, for the First Annual NYC Duck-Off. Over 100 guests enjoyed a walk-around tasting of delicious samples from nine competitors accompanied by live music from bluegrass group The 2nd Avenue Mountain Boys. The event was a great success, and helped raise over $2,000 for FSNYC programs. A huge thank you goes out to all the competitors, judges, Jimmy's No. 43 staff, volunteers, and attendees who made this lively event possible from all of us at Food Systems Network NYC.
