FSNYC Leadership Committee Co-Chairs' Address

Thank you to all who attended our 2012 Annual Meeting on June 12th. We heard from our active sub-committees on their projects from the previous year and on what they are looking forward to for the rest of 2012. We also reconnected with some who helped to shape FSNYC into what it is today, including Harvest Home Farmers Market Founder and past FSNYC Membership Co-Chair Maritza Owens, who inspired us with her keynote address on her work developing community-based farmers markets.

As Co-Chairs this year, Ed Yowell and I look forward to working with the subcommittees as partner on a number of initiatives to increase FSNYC membership and achieve greater inclusivity, maintain our financial security through fundraising that promotes our mission, further enhance FSNYC's position as a policy and advocacy organization, and continue to nurture the next generation of food activists.

As we continue to look for ways to improve our core function of distributing information on the New York City foodsystem, we are looking forward to another year of continued exciting and meaningful programs and timely communications through our website and newsletter. Developments in extending our food calendar and the launch of a new phase of our FoodAction NYC project will help us meaningfully do this for our current audience and make clear our value to those meeting us for the first time.

And most importantly, the Annual Meeting made clear that FSNYC is truly made up of a wonderfully talented group of members, whose voices should be heard loud and clear. So contact FSNYC’s General Coordinator to join a committee! Visit our website at www.foodsystemsnyc.org! Thanks,

Kristin Pederson & Ed Yowell
