Job Description
POSITION: Project Director for Your Upper Manhattan (YUM) Food Box Project
Department: Administration
Scope of Practice: The project director will be responsible for the overall operations of the YUM Food Box Project by planning, implementing and coordinating all aspects of the project in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Committee. Serving as an advisor for the Leadership Committee, the project director will train this core group of older adults, empower and assist them in the problem solving and ensure that both on-and off-site activities run smoothly. The project director manages the relationship with Council on the Environment of New York City (CENYC), Senior Leadership Committee and Isabella staff.
Duties/responsibilities:
· Responsible for developing and facilitating a Leadership Committee of older adults in an advisory capacity
· Develop a training curriculum for Leadership Committee and volunteers
· Maintain working relationships with the YUM Food Box distribution sites
· Recruit, coordinate, support and supervise volunteers
· Interface with CENYC to order produce and packaging
· Coordinate and tabulate orders and payments
· Oversee and schedule rotating weekly market at the various distribution sites
· Responsible for tracking and reporting successes and areas needing improvement
· Attends meetings and trainings as needed
· Keeps records and provides documentation as needed
· Perform any and all other duties required to keep the project operating smoothly
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree. An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
· Experience: Experience in nutrition, a community organizing and/or older adult is required. Experience using Microsoft Office, Excel and MS Publisher preferred or willingness to learn.
· Enunciated Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, in person and in writing with the public and all levels of staff. Excellent verbal communication skills and professional judgment are essential. The candidate must be caring, compassionate, and friendly.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
· Reports to: Director of Outreach and Networking
· Supervision: Volunteers
· Coordinates with: Senior Leadership Committee, Isabella staff, and the Council on the Environment of New York City (CENYC)
